Lancia made cars that were different and clever – if not always cheap to buy or own. Lancia made 29 different variants between 1961 and 1974. There were three engines – 1488cc, 1800cc and 2000cc – with several variants of each, and different states of tune with single or twin carburettors, or mechanical or electronic fuel injection. And there were many changes of body styling.
“If cars have sharply defined characters according to where they come from – and they do – then the Lancia must be the exception which proves the Rule, Italian cars in general tend to be fragile, extrovert and often rather temperamental, at least in the higher – priced ranks – flamboyant in looks, noisy in behaviour and exciting in performance, but Lancia’s are cars of another breed indeed .They seem strongly non – Italian. They look neat, restrained and business like rather than exotic or exciting. They perform adequately without boring you to tears or frightening you out of your wits. In a word they are careful cars – careful design, careful performance, careful handling, designed for the well – heeled owner who believes in keeping his car carefully ‘’ Stirling Moss.
The example that we have for sale has been a 20 year restoration from one of the most esteemed Lancia enthusiast in South Africa. Unfortunately he passed away recently before he saw his finally creation finished.
The complete car has been prepped for final paint in its original red and is ready for the final assembly. The motor is running and was recently serviced. All the rubbers are brand new and ready to be installed, brand new windows stand in their packing, with all the brand new chrome trimmings which accompany the sale of the car. The interior is all original and is in the same condition as when the car was manufactured.
If you are looking for a restoration project where all the headaches and parts sourcing has already been taken care of and which is not going to take years to complete this is definitely the best opportunity or example around. All the paper work is in order and up to date.
