VW Fleetline Split Window Custom 1975 Model

689,000.00

Price : R689000-00

The VW captured its image of the anti-establishment and an alternative answer to car culture back in the 1960’s Californian surf scene, and from that point the reputation stuck and the iconic image of a classic or custom VW was to evolve and adopt many guises, from a Rat look early Beetle to a high spec Euro-stanced T5 – yet one theme is ever present… it’s a VW and thus celebrates the ethos of being that bit different… that bit cooler than the average.

Driving, owning or simply just enjoying the VW scene is not about status symbols, but about state of mind. With later incarnations of VWs taking on a heritage all of their own to sit a long side the old school classics, the galaxy of VW models and types is as varied as the individuals who drive and use them, but all share the spirit of fun and adventure that comes part and parcel to the VW scene and it’s many cruising interests, including exploring the great outdoors from inland odysseys to shoreline adventures to simply chilling at shows.

Southern California has traditionally been the place where rules are bent, boundaries pushed and VW trends are started. Obviously the most significant visual identifier, apart from the sometime lurid custom paint jobs, was the lack of chrome. The side and bonnet trim was either removed or painted over

There's not a single aggressive line or a solitary curve that's calculated to suggest speed. In older, split-window Kombis the effect is pure art deco.

No matter how many times a Volkswagen bus travels, changes ownership, or transforms, it always seems to fulfil its original purpose – inspiring adventure and celebration with great people.

A lot of people in South Africa refer to any split windscreen Volkswagen bus as a Fleetline. In fact, the name Fleetline refers to a very specific split screen bus: the Brazilian split buses sold by VWSA as budget models for one year only, 1975.

Fleetlines came in three flavours: panel vans, 15-window Kombis, and wide-body single-cab pick-ups.

This beautifully customized example that we have for sale comes with a standard 1600cc twin port motor with a mere 1000km on the clock. It has a 60 litre alloy fuel tank and a customized exhaust system to accommodate the air suspension.

The heart and soul of this custom build is the VI Air Ride Suspension. No expense has been spared and no corners have been cut. The suspension comes with a TWO Air Bag system one for the front and One for the rear.(not the normal one for the complete vehicle),additional it has Two compressors for each bag and Two switches for the front and rear systems to inflate and deflate independently. The compressors are matched with a 100 litre tank hidden away under the rear seat.

The interior is immaculate and tastefully executed in Vinyl and cloth that matches the custom paint scheme. An additional feature is the Pure Sound Wave 300 watt to 12 volt DC to 230 volts AC Invertor which powers a 32 Inch Samsung Smart TV.

The paint scheme is stunning and compliments the vehicle perfectly, all the window rubbers are brand new and the chrome window bits are perfect. The rear wheel dishes have been widened and the takkies are 185/65/15 on the rear and 175/45/15 on the front.

Why anyone would attempt a customized build such as this would be a totally brain fade never mind the time and expenses that would be incurred in trying such a build, when we have this Awesome Vehicle for Sale.
