Motor Guzzi 1000SP Cafe Racer 1979

US$0,00

café racer is a lightweight, lightly powered motorcycle optimized for speed and handling rather than comfort – and for quick rides over short distances. With bodywork and control layout recalling early-1960s Grand Prix road racing motorcycles, café racers are noted for their visual minimalism, featuring low-mounted handlebars, prominent seat cowling and elongated fuel tank – and frequently knee-grips indented in the fuel tank.

Thirty years ago, if you were looking for a powerful motorcycle to take you from one end of continental Europe to the other, the Moto Guzzi 1000 SP would be near the top of your list. It wasn’t the best-looking bike to roll out of the Mandello del Lario factory. But it did have a bulletproof air-cooled 948 cc v-twin, shaft drive, and 60 long-legged Italian horses that would propel you to over 180 km/h.

This SP originally started as a touring bike, but this example was restored in and turned into a custom cafe racer. It’s said to be a multiple 1st place winning show quality bike that gets ridden.

The bodywork is all-new too, flaunting traditional Guzzi styling signatures such as the creased tank and the v-shaped section under the new seat. The overall effect is the perfect marriage of classic Italian style and subtle modern updates. The wheels have been customized to a clean modern three spoke design and the double disc brakes have been dropped for a single disc brake up front. The frame has been stripped completely and powder coated in fire engine red to match the body work. Clip on bars have been fitted which are not to low slung and mirrors ends have been fitted to them. The exhaust pipe was totally hand fabricated and chromed to give the bike its elegance. The bike has been professional painted into True Italian red with a signature theme to commemorate the Late Marco Simonchelli and what better way to do it than choosing an Italian Motor Cycle.

The bike has just recently had a full service, new brake pads, brake fluid and fork seals fitted. The front suspension was totally overhauled and the carbs had a major service and were synchronized to perfection.
