Ford Cortina MK V 1983
Ford Cortina MK V 1983
Price: Sold
The name was inspired by the name of the Italian ski resort Cortina d'Ampezzo, site of the 1956 Winter Olympics. As a publicity stunt, several Cortina’s were driven down the bobsled run at the resort which was called Cortina Auto-Bobbing. Up to and including 1981, the Cortina was the bestselling car in Britain. In March 2009 it was revealed that the Cortina was still the third most popular car ever sold there, The British punk rock band The Clash reference the car in the song Janie Jones, singing "He's got a Ford Cortina that just run without fuel."
The example that we have for sale must be the lowest genuine mileage car in South Africa. The car has just 48910km on the clock with a full service history and owner’s manuals. The condition of the rear seats makes one think that they have never been sat on. This is a genuine two owner vehicle that has been meticulously looked after. Production was stopped in 1982 however this car was delivered on the 1 August 1983 making it probably one of the very last ever sold.
