Alfa GTV 1750cc MKII 1970 Model

US$0,00

The 105 series Alfa Romeo was launched in 1963 with the twin-cam 1600cc engine known as the Giulia GT Veloce Alfa, or Alfa GTV as it became known. In 1966 in the best Alfa Romeo tradition, a Junior version joined the range, with its twin Cam, twin-barrel carburettors and 1290cc engine. Only one horizontal bar adorned the radiator grille, and it had a five-speed, fully synchronised gearbox.

Throughout the GT/GTV history, careful handling of design changes and attention for detail ensured that the model’s styling stayed fresh and modern, even when the range was finally stopped in 1976 after proving to be one of Alfa’s most successful ideas ever.

The Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV was commended for its elegant and sophisticated appearance and was matched by the no-nonsense performance vision that inspired most of Alfa’s Road cars throughout the 1960’s and 70’s. In fact, the 1750 GTV represented a slicker, quicker update to one of Alfa’s most revered models, the iconic Giulia Sprint. The higher engine capacity, greater control and improved power made the GTV a more flexible and enjoyable car to drive, most significantly for its ability to maintain higher average speeds as an accomplished touring car.

Today, this sublime Alfa’s Bertone-designed bodywork is in excellent condition, with no evidence of any significant damage or rust. The panel gaps in the doors and boot are perfect. Having been fully resprayed and restored in 2008, the Alfa Rosso 501 paintwork presents well, but on close inspection it is not perfect, and there are a few general marks and blemishes across its surface.

The exterior chrome including the iconic Alfa Romeo front grille, headlamp bezels and window trim strips are all in excellent condition. The car rides on the correct set of 14-inch steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, the vehicle is sold with an additional set of Momo wheels and an extra bonnet.

Opening the door and stepping inside, you are met by the largely unmarked interior, which features wood trim on the centre console and dashboard, and an attractive wood-rimmed steering wheel, which adds a delightfully tactile touch to the driving experience. The seats are upholstered in Nero vinyl with the correct weave show few signs of wear, the carpets provide an attractive contrast and are near perfect.

The car still adjourns it original windscreen and widows as well as its original tags.

This 1750 GTV’s mechanical components are in excellent condition, with the engine having been fully rebuilt with all the parts sourced from Alfaholics in the UK. Furthermore, the suspension components and brakes were also tended to, and the twin cam chains were also replaced, ensuring that this classic sporting coupe can perform as its maker intended.

This Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV is an attractive and characterful Italian sports coupe, presented in very smart overall condition and finished in an appealing factory red. Benefitting from a full engine rebuild less than one year ago, it will make a fine addition to any collection, and is ready and waiting for its twin-cam engine to be put to good use on the open road.
