The 328 was the final evolution of the 308 GTB that debuted at the 1975 Paris Motor Show. The 328 was also introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1985. What didn't change was its basic appearance--thanks to the 308's fame, (Magnum PK) it was universally recognizable as a Ferrari! --and the fact that, like its immediate predecessors, the 328 was also available in GTB (Berlinetta, or solid-roof) and GTS (Spider, or open-top) body styles.

In proper sports car form, the 328 GTB and GTS were available only with a manual 5 speed gear box. Ferrari gave the 328 its only major mechanical updates during the 1988 model year. The car became a bit more digital with the fitment of a Teves Mark 2 ABS braking system for its servo-assisted ventilated disc brakes. The car's body was still built largely by hand in the Scaglietti works, with steel panels (plus a removable black vinyl-wrapped fiberglass roof panel on GTS models) In 1988 and 1989, the door mirrors wore small Cavallino Rampante emblems.

The 328 is the simplest and most reliable Ferrari ever built,"
