Morris Mini Deluxe 850cc 1962 Model

US$125 000,00

SOLD

The round nose Mini Models were assembled and then later manufactured in South Africa from early 1960 and spanned 20 years until the last one left the production line in 1980.

Only the Deluxe models of the Austin 850 and Morris 850 were initially assembled in South Africa with the standard models joining them in 1960.

The Deluxe model featured two-tone, vinyl treated seat trim and an adjustable front passenger seat, carpets front and rear, two sun visors, hinged quarter lights , bright plastic locking insert for the windscreen, sill finishers, chromed petrol cap, chromed number plate light, chromed hub caps, chromed bumpers, with over riders on the front and rear, interior door panels, painted instrument narcelle, windscreen washer, rubber mat over the spare wheel in the boot, astray and kicking protectors on the door and sills.

The South African assembled versions differed slightly from the UK models only by the seat colors and carpets which were locally manufactured however the patterns remained the same.

The South African round nose models engine capacity changed from 848cc to 998cc in November 1965.

Interesting Features.

The cars came with starter button mounted to the left of the driver’s seat for starting the car. There was also a floor mounted headlight dipswitch mounted just behind the gear lever to the left of the clutch.

The best liked features were the road handling and the stability of the cars followed by the lively performance of the engine.

The example that we have for sale has had a professional restoration by a true Mini enthusiast. The car retains a huge percentage of original parts and with the ones that were replaced all imported from the UK.

The interior and the carpets have been redone however the door panels are still original. The car retains its original hood lining along with the sun visors. All the exterior beading, trimming , mirrors are original along with the badges, the Morris grill and Lucas headlights are origional.

The motor retains its original SU1 carburetors, wiring harness, metal fan and has all the original correct Tags in place.

This is one very neat and original example of one of the most famous cars to ever grace the planet, not to mention the attention to detail taken in the restoration.
